About this Episode

Today we're joined by Omoju Miller, a Sr. machine learning engineer at GitHub.

After a year of back and forth, we finally had the chance to catch up with Omoju at Tensorflow World, where she gave a pair of presentations. In the first of these talks, "Why is machine learning seeing exponential growth in its communities?", Omoju traces the rise of applied ML, describing three "cycles" in the timeline and what the spikes in each cycle represent. In her second talk, "Automating your developer workflow on GitHub with Tensorflow", she details the use of the GitHub marketplace as a tool to test, iterate, and develop features with the help of the broader community. We discuss both of these talks, as well as Omoju's dissertation Hiphopathy, A Socio-Curricular Study of Introductory Computer Science, and her work as an inaugural member of the GitHub machine learning team.
