I didn’t realize it until sitting down to write this, but today marks the one-year anniversary of the TWIML Online Meetup!

Over the course of the past year, meetup members have had a chance to learn about and explore a wide range of topics related to machine and deep learning, participate in great discussions during our meetup sessions and via our Slack channel, take the Fast.ai online course together, and more. Most importantly, a great community has formed around these peer discussions, study sessions, and presentations.

Recently I’ve been approached by several Europe-based members of the broader TWIML community who’ve expressed interest in participating in our live meetup events but have been a bit discouraged by the 2 am CEST time that we’ve settled in on.

Well, I’m excited to announce the launch of a new TWIML Online Meetup group that is timed to be much more convenient for our friends in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. (It’s also not too inconvenient for those of us in the US, running midday depending on your time zone.)

The EU Meetup will be hosted by Kai Lichtenberg (@Kai on Slack), who’s been very involved in the Fast.ai study group and stepped up in a big way to help launch this new effort. He’s already got a full lineup of presenters booked through the end of the year and will be kicking things off with his own presentation of Hinton’s Capsule Networks on Tuesday, September 4th at 7 pm CEST. We’ll be getting the full line-up on the Meetup page shortly.

A huge thanks to Kai, and please be sure to join in if the time is convenient for you!
